Snow-covered peaks of the High Atlas
Guide

Best time to visit Morocco

Desert, mountains and coast have different seasons. Here is when each works best.

For the desert, September to May. In high summer it gets too hot during the day for trekking; camp nights are possible but the day loses freedom of movement. The most pleasant months are October, November, March and April.

In the High Atlas there is snow on the summits from December to February, though the passes are usually open. In spring the almond trees blossom — the finest time for the drive over the Tizi-n-Tichka.

The Atlantic coast is mild all year and in summer the most pleasant region in the country — exactly when the desert is too hot. That is why in summer we combine coast and Atlas rather than coast and Sahara.

Marrakech is comfortable from November to April and very hot during the day in July and August. Ramadan shifts each year; restaurants and souks then keep different hours — travel still works well, it simply feels different.
